It's My Life - It's My Choice
Start date: Sep 1, 2014,
End date: Aug 31, 2017
PROJECT
FINISHED
Based on the experience accumulated over the previous projects our students were the ones who outlined the issue of this new one: their concern for healthy living. it was then when we contacted many schools till form a group with similar aims and ideas about the project and we ended up selecting the more appropriate.
Some of them with experience in European projects and some other unexperienced but that could contribute with new and fresh ideas.
We want this project to serve to boost a more committed behavior of our school communities, taking advantage of new technologies and transmitting their experiences to each other. Cooperating to produce a final product, using English as a tool for accessing knowledge and for being in contact with culturally different realities permeate our project.
Creativity, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and analysis will be the thinking skills we will focus on, and citizenship, social responsibility, cultural awareness, challenging stereotypes and networking the ones within the social skills. Everything aimed to develop the three general themes Health, Food and Relationships within the broader issue “It’s My Life, It’s My Choice”.
Health education is any combination of learning experiences designed to help individuals and communities to improve their health, by increasing their knowledge or influencing their attitudes. Unfortunately alcohol and drugs have become more socially acceptable and this makes it even easier for people to try them at younger ages.
We believe that all children should understand the origins of their food: where it comes from, how it is produced and its meaning for personal and public health. providing students food and nutrition education will empower them with lifelong skills, so that they can make their choice when necessary. What they buy, what they eat will make a difference for the world they want to live in.
Relationships are powerful. Our caring for each other is often what motivates us to make changes. Thus, establishing connections with people from diverse backgrounds can be key in making significant changes in our communities. As individuals, and in groups, we can change our communities.
We plan local associated institutions that will help us in the development of the above mentioned topics . They are experts in the different fields we want to work on. Some work in the field of health and prevention of drugs addition, some deal with organic production and others work with immigrants and refugees.
We have designed our project for 36 months. Each school year, every term, we will work in a specific area that will be complemented during the following years. Spain will be the coordinator and also the responsible for the ICT aspects. French Polynesia will be in charge of eTwinning and Dutch partners of the sport and outdoor activities. Turkey will lead the activities related to CLIL aspects and in the Swedish school they will organize the activities related to organic food.
All possible methods of communication will be used, including e-mail, telephone, teleconference, fax, Skype and, of course, the eTwinning platform as an additional tool to support cooperation. The language we will use in our partnership will be English, but as another of our aims is to motivate and reinforce the learning of European languages, we will ensure the presence of our national languages in the blog, in the wiki and in products such as brochures or books. It will be the students responsibility to motivate their partners to learn some useful words and sentences during the mobilities.
Project meetings will be made in accordance with the project diary in the participating schools. At the beginning of each school year there will be a transnational teachers meeting and every school year there will be two transnational short meetings with students.
To reach the above mentioned objectives , we will produce these results: a DVD with presentations about the different participating schools, a brochure with information about the project, the website with the blog and the wiki, the logo, our project song and dance, a school garden, a book with all the conclusions and a multilingual dictionary.
Monitoring and evaluation are crucial for the success of our project. To assess the scope, the aims and outcomes of the project, we will conduct surveys and questionnaires to students and teachers, every school term and also at the end of each mobility. This work will require, as a first step, the design and development of common and specific tools developed in our partnership.
The implementation of the project has already started. All the schools have joined a common eTwinning project to meet together and to exchange experiences. The teachers teams are already organized and frequent meetings with the local associated partners have been kept to decide how they can cooperate with us.
