FINISHED
The youth exchange “It's important- learn about Media" will bring together 40 young people from Slovenia, Romania, France, Estonia and Slovakia. The project will discuss the role of media in our societies and how media can increase youth participation. There is a great need of implementing this project in Domžale, Slovenia and we as organization, together with our partners, are looking forward to this exchange. Young people will come to Domžale for 7 days, from 5. - 11. 10. 2014, to reflect about the role of media and become journalists themselves for a couple of days.
Development of critical thinking of young people concerning the different information and messages they receive through media is the main goal of the project "It's important- learn about Media". As prerequisites of democracy, media play a very important role in today’s world. At the same time media influence people very much and especially young people are often confused by different messages coming across from media. It is very important for young people to understand how media work, be able to work with information and process the information they get.
Though this youth exchange the participants will be able to become young journalists and create newspapers, short videos and journalism photos. They will work in international groups, have to divide the tasks, learn how to use new tools, make interviews with local people and create together a final product.
Media will be used as a tool through which young people will be able to express their opinion. European citizenship and challenges that young people face (e.g. youth unemployment, social exclusion and marginalization, youth involvement, etc.) will be the main topic, but young people will be free to propose topics which are important for them. Expressing opinions on various abstract topics will be enabled throughout this project.
All results of the project will be published on a website, but we also plan to disseminate them among other youth organisations, young people and local communities in the partner countries. The enhancement of the visibility of the Erasmus+ program for youth will be also an accomplished goal through this project.
