By gathering the resources and know-how of the three university research groups, the joint project establishes a highly capable three-center cross-border research network, which is going to pursue the following objectives.1. HPLC-MS and HPLC-CD analysis and synthesis of the bioactive flavanolignan components of Silybum marianum. Identification of potential drug candidates.2. Synthesis of optically active O- and O,N-heterocycles of potential pharmacological activity with kinetic resolution and organocatalysis.3. Structure elucidation and characterization of new compounds by MS and spectroscopic methods, determination of their absolute configuration by chiroptical methods.The main activities of the project are: Analysis and synthesis of flavanolignan components of Silybum marianum, Synthesis of optically active O- and O,N-heterocycles, Study of new compounds with MS, chiroptical and other spectroscopic methodsThe target groups are formed by the Hungarian and Romanian pharmaceutical companies, MSc and PhD student of the universities and young scientists..
