Volunteers will work on developing better environments for disadvantaged youths in different countries. They will give basic care to the children and teach them a variety of practical skills through learning, playing, and combining the two. The focal point of all projects is care. Volunteers will work in Ghana, China, Ecuador and Honduras.Coordinated by the organisation ICYE in Honduras, four volunteers will do their work in pairs within two organisations. Two will work with a nonprofit institution for the care of children with mental handicaps and learning difficulties, while the other two will work with a nonprofit that provides education to deaf children.A group of eight volunteers will work with the foundation Children of Ecuador. Volunteers will work in the house 'La Casita', where children who have been removed from or left by their families are placed by child services. Volunteers will assist in all daily tasks and duties, either within a family setting or part-time a children's playhouse. The part-time work will allow more individual work to be done with the children, forming pairs and hopefully bonds.The Orphanage in China will host two groups of three volunteers. They will assist the nuns in daily tasks, take the children out to play, organise community events, and teach English.At the Care & Community Development project coordinated by the B. Youthaid Foundation in Ghana, volunteers willcare for the orphaned or ill children. Additional tasks will include working with the elderly at a day care centre andencouraging social interaction
