It is widely recognised that social exclusion produces deep and long-term damage to the living conditions, socio-economic participation, emotional life, and well-being of young people. Different factors play important roles in producing social exclusion. Poor levels of education, experiencing discrimination, monetary poverty, unemployment, living in remote geographical areas, and experiences of juvenile delinquency, are often indicated as the main factors of youth social exclusion. Youth work plays an essential role in reaching and bringing together young people who face exclusion on a daily basis.The aims of the Training Course “Involve Everyone: Learning through Erasmus+”, which shall take place in Romania from September 18th-24th, 2016, are to increase the knowledge and skills of youth workers on topics of discrimination and social exclusion in the context of youth work in a non-formal framework.The aim is supported by the following objectives:- to facilitate involvement of 30 youth workers from Erasmus+ Program countries in the whole cycle of the project and ensure insure the feeling of commitment towards the project for 6 months - to raise knowledge of 30 youth workers in the topics social exclusion and discrimination and develop skills to address those issues through youth work- to provide participants with practical tools and methods to ensure inclusiveness of youth work and avoiding unwillingly discrimination- to raise awareness on participants about their selves and their roles as youth workers linked with discrimination in the social exclusion context- to empower participants to take action to reduce discrimination in their own lives and in society by sharing methods, tools and instruments to be incorporated in a methodology for approaching youth in fighting against social exclusion- to ensure participants pass through all stages of experiential learning and reflect of the learning outcomes through 8 Key Competencies model- to provide space for participants to share their experience and to develop long lasting partnershipsThe 28 participants selected for this seminar are:- determined to actively participate in sharing practices, examples, tools, methods and instruments around discrimination and social exclusion, which will be incorporated in the upcoming methodology on working with youth facing discrimination and social exclusion- willing and able to implement an innovative project after the project serving the needs of the organisation in their community-interested in the topic of the project-willing to share and implement new-gained knowledge within their sending organizations/institutions- professionals, youth workers, trainers working in the education field (formal and non-formal) willing to share their own experience- able to attend the full duration of the training- able to communicate and work in English language (B1 to C2, according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)- committed to disseminate the results within their organizations and to multiply the impact of the project by actively working with youth in their local communities- experienced in working directly with youthThe activities will be based on the principles and practice of non-formal education taking into account the participants’ needs, motivations and previous experiences as starting point of the programme. A diversity of working methods will be used for learning about discrimination and social exclusion: thinking together, brainstorming, creating new ideas, discussions, debates, simulations, etc. Also, the project will offer space for sharing the already existing methods, examples and answers that support discrimination and social exclusion projects and develop new Erasmus+ partnerships. Expected impact on youth workers involved in the project:- deepen their knowledge on social exclusion by self-awareness of using unawarely discrimination in their working environment- support the role of youth workers in social responsibility and anti-discrimination activities that contribute to living together in peace and foster dialogue between youth workers who promote the values of diversity in the community.- create and use a knowledge bag of non formal education tools and creating better life chances for those facing with obstacles.The project is expected to have strong impact on all the mentioned levels by sharing all the results. It will promote the values of respect, solidarity, inclusion, equality between participants coming from European countries. The aim is to make a change in youth’s life and in those working with them, to have some long-term impact in the society and to establish a well-working network of youth workers and their sending organizations interested in the topic. The project results shall activate participants to plan future projects as well.
