One of the principles of our teaching style here at the HTL Leoben is to impart the idea of a common Europe in all subjects. In order to develop an established reputation in this matter and demonstrate our commitment to a united Europe, we want to attend seminars in other European countries which will help us create a greater educational and professional network and improve our skills as educators. As a higher technical college it is fundamental to be connected to economic and industrial businesses as well as other schools and institutions, both within and outside of Austria.We aim to show our pupils that the network with European businesses and institutions brings valuable advantages. Additionally, permanent improvement of our teaching skills and methods shows the innovative side of our school. We want to expand our teaching methods by acquiring skills that will improve the way our students learn, such as how to use new technology. This will show our pupils, their parents, as well as our business partners that our graduates are educated in a future-oriented way. To increase the high-quality and sound use of English as a language of instruction is also in the focus of our school profile. Our six participants will be contact people as well as multipliers who pass on their acquired knowledge within our school. In this way we want to guarantee that the new skills will spread. Furthermore, our staff of the different departments have the possibility to hear different views and learn from different people. The courses for language improvement as well as the courses about how to improve teaching and learning with new technology will help our staff acquire knowledge that plays a significant role in today’s life and education. Moreover, the cultural aspect of this project is substantial. Our participants will get contacts to other European schools, companies and institutions. This will lead to the exchange of information on an international level, encourage the cooperation and start of European school projects as well as help our students to find work placements internationally.Consequently, we can advance our school, establish a reputation on an international level and guarantee to further improve the already high quality of our graduates and education. The HTL Leoben is unique in Austria, as it is the only school which offers our pupils the option to concentrate in the areas of metallurgy and raw materials engineering, branches of study that have a long tradition in Leoben. The good reputation of our school can be improved and spread even further by a professional CLIL education. Well-trained graduates with a high level of the English language will be able to integrate well into the international job market and increase the educational and professional status of our region.Our school and the teachers want to improve. This is only possible by being open to today’s changes and being willing to adapt to them. We want to broaden our horizons and get to know different ideas and developments so we can present ourselves in a way that is future-orientated and focused on the quality of our students.
