Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Diversity and diversity consciousness in education as a concept have become more and more present in the last few years – as well in social contexts as in the international youth work. How each person defines those terms, is very different. In the intended project we want to start with the exchange about our self-concept. With our partners from different countries, we especially want to talk about our attitude and our methodical approach to variety, dissimilarity and ambiguity.Intercultural competences, communication and conflict are the main spheres of competence that are challenged and developed during these days.Attitudes will be questioned and in terms of understandings of democracy, social participation and equal status of different ideologies further developed. The aim is to encourage the competences of specialists in contact with social variety through the experience and the mediation of diversity conscious methods.Through several days lasting work with the mentioned topics in an international team, a common basis should be generated on which the participants should feel encouraged to start own international cooperation projects. The participants should not only improve their skills, but meet the mentioned challenges better and initialize valuable cooperation with international partners. The number of participants is set at 50 persons at most. Target group are full-time and voluntary youth workers above the age of 18. These people are preferably multipliers in the open youth work, in youth associations, in municipal youth work and pedagogues. They should be interested in long-term international networking and collaboration, they should be motivated to work diversity conscious and to develop own international projects.During this four day long study meeting from 29th Sep to 2nd Oct 2016, the participants will be accommodated in Igls near Innsbruck in a self-catered house. There we will work with different contributors by means of lectures, workshops and intercultural methods in the following topics:• Diversity conscious view on the participants’ personality: origin in literal and psychological sense• Occurences and streamings in public and their influence on individual stance• Useful ideas for the implementation of diversity conscious education in youth work by means of methods, exercises and best practice• Collective view into the future: Mine/our next stepsThe youth workers should improve their reciprocal understanding, demount stereotypes and sceptically challenge their point of view. Through essential knowhow and intercultural competences the participants are being qualified for intercultural work. This study meeting supports the advancement and improvement of the quality of (intercultural and transnational) youth work. This meeting should assist experts and organizations to orient themselves intercultural and international and to network. Developed projects will be attended and supported by the involved partners in excess of study meeting. For documentation and recognition of the participants’ learning effects, they will receive the Youthpass.
