Ylivieska town youth department is hosting organisation in this International Ylivieska -project. In this project we will host volunteers from Austria and Spain to work with local young people and children. The volunteers will be 18-30 years old. The volunteers we are looking for are motivated young people, who are ready to learn about other cultures and European realities, they are also creative people with own ideas and motivation to do voluntary work. This is a long term -project, periods are 11 and 12 months. The main tasks they do is the work at the youthhouse with youngsters and children of different ages, also special evening for over 18''s. This is during the schoolyear, at the summertime work is mostly summercamps and work at the children traffic park. Our area is in the far north and we don't have so much international contacts. At the moment there is some hate speech in our local community, so with this project we will fight also towards xenophobia and rasism. By having international volunteer working together with local people we hope to make multiculturalism and internationality as a natural part of young people’s everyday life. In our idea equality and tolerance will grow when the youngsters and children have possibility to normal everyday contact with foreigners. The idea behind the project is to engourage young people for intercultural communication. The aim is also to present the possibilities of Erasmus+. The volunteers will be active members of the working community and they are also encouraged to bring their own culture and ideas for the work and cooperation with youngsters. Programme priorities will be in important part, as we work with young people who do not have other possibilities to get so much international experiences. We also encourage young people to participate actively in the society and to take responsibility for themselves and people nearby. Voluntary work is an excellent way to support young people to be initiative, to become more independent and at the same time develop their idea and thoughts about European citizenship. The idea is also to bring internationality into the everyday life of our local youngsters in order to make multiculturalism a visible and natural part of their everyday life. Our project also gives good example for the locals about volunteering.
