Since more than 25 years, the international summer camp of the Order of Malta (IMS) takes place in a different European country. In 2009, a total of 350 young Europeans (half of them with a kind of disability, especially physical disabilities binding them to the wheelchair) will meet together during 8 days (including arrival and departure day) in San Ildefonso-La Granja, located near the city of Segovia, declared by the UNESCO World Heritage city.The motto of 2009 summer camp will be "You are everything", it tries to reflect the aims and hope of equality of every camp. For most of the participants, this event is one of the few leisure activities in which they have the opportunity to be involved in during the year.The main objective of the project is to provide physically disabled young people a place to share personal experiences, trying to overcome the barriers they find in their daily life, in a global European perspective of integration.The IMS is an'event to promote solidarity and exchange information between participants regarding problems of young European people with different kinds of disabilities. Also, it provides supranational links of friendship between young people and a real conscience of the European Community as a human and cultural common place of citizens for solidarity, integration, innovation and peace.During the week, the participants will have the opportunity to exchange experiences through integration games and sports, to learn skills, to participate in organised cultural visits, workshops and outdoor activities. Finally, we have the opportunity to learn national culture, traditions, folks and gastronomy of other European countries, specially of the hosting country: Spain.Personal interaction and a human integration between all participants, everlasting after the camp through the use of new technologies, is the main challenge of the Project.
