FOR WHOM: For teachers, trainers, tutors working as internationalactivities developers, EU project managers, international coordinatorsand in similar professionals in VET schools/institutes or in working lifeinstitutes WHY: To find a European-wide solution for the followingproblems: Role of VET teachers, trainers and tutors is changing: newskills are demanded because of the internationalisation of their work. ;Increasing numbers of teachers/trainers are responsible for developinginternational project work and other international activities of theirinstitutes. Large part of their competence is acquired through informaland non-formal learning during of their lives/ careers. That competence isnot officially recognised. 4 Teachers need more competence in this fieldbut mostly they need a validation system recognising their existingcompetence and experience. WHAT: 1 A survey of InternationalDevelopment officers / co-ordinators of VET institutions and of work donefor validating their competences 2 Proposal for a common Europeancompetence-based qualification of IDO, International DevelopmentOfficer3 An in-service education programme for future IDOs, with testeddevices for validation, transfer and recognition of learning outcomesachieved by informal and non-formal learning, and including a trainingpackage - Design of competence-based qualifications - Design of the wayhow a student can show his/her competences - Design of a trainingpackage - Results of piloting the IDO programme in partner countries 4 Anet version of the IDO programme 5 A model for using transferablelearning outcomes in education and working life 6 All materials in partnerlanguages, flexibly exploitable in different cultural contexts 7 Valorisationplans 8 Administrative documents FOR WHAT USE: 1 Status ofpractising VET teachers/trainers will be enhanced, internationalisation willget a stronger place in schools/institutes 2 Thus the teachers/trainers’contribution and involvement in curriculum development will be welcomedand appreciated 3 The new training possibilities will attract new IDOs –more competence for internationalisation 4 Competence- based systemwill strengthen the liaison between IDOs and people doing similar tasks inworking life (enterprises, occupational sectors etc) 5 Results of theproject will be exploitable on a European wide basis
