International Academy of Experiential Education

Experiential education as an effective method in adult education, especially fordeveloping transversal competences (such as social, civic, cultural and interculturalcompetences and entrepreneurship) has been acknowledged by a number of adulteducation and training organisations across Europe and worldwide. It is used workingwith different groups of learners, and it is especially efficient when learners are peoplefrom vulnerable social groups.The educators and trainers who guide the process of experiential education needconsiderable professional preparation and background knowledge. Project partners withsignificant experience in experiential education confirm that today in the partnercountries there is a lot of amateur experiential education cases and therefore a clearneed for deeper knowledge and experience of the method achieved through the pursuitof professional training courses on quality experiential education methodology.In the communication “Adult learning: It is never late to learn” the Commission invites “toensure the quality of adult learning programmes: Member States must ensure thatteaching methods and teaching staff are efficient and meet the needs of adult learners”Quality of adult education is a Grundtvig priority too. Thus the project responds to thekey policy issues.The project will produce the following results:• Bases of principles and training materials for quality experiential education: overview ofexisting practices of adults' experiential learning in the partner countries, commonprinciples for quality of experiential learning, training materials connected to adult qualityexperiential education methodology.• Channels for dissemination and exploitation of quality experiential education ideasdiscussed within the project: internet site, course participants’ folder (courseparticipants’ individual projects and valorisation ideas), presentation of the projectresults in conferences, articles in specialist newspapers or news web pages about theproject, publicity materials (posters, flyers).The products will be available in EN and the national languages of the participatingpartners - Lithuanian, Italian, Icelandic, German, French, Dutch and Walloon.The impact envisaged is the contributing to the improvement of the content and deliveryof adult education by increasing adult educators’ access to professional training coursesfeaturing quality experiential education methodology.
