We wished to discuss whether the EU acts as a normative power in Europe and the scope of this power, especially in light of the Ukraine crisis. The summer conference had participants from the age of 15-30 from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, FInland, Iceland, United Kingdom, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, FYR Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania. In addition to workshops, group discussions and a panel debate on "The EU as a legitimate global power", we had lectures on the ongoing TTIP negotiations, the situation in Western-Sahara and the EU's role in the run-up to the Paris climate conference in 2015. We also organised speech, debate, media and recruitment training. The participating organisations produced a resolution on European fisheries policy that was adopted by our umbrella organisation JEF Europe in the spring of 2015. Our goal for the conference was to make young Europeans aware of the EU's role as a foreign policy actor and to start a debate about this role, and we feel that we achieved this goal.
