Internacionalizacija šole, dvig kompetenc ter razvoj veščin na Osnovni šoli Antona Tomaža Linharta Radovljica
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The long-term vision of our school policy is to establish a successful long-lasting and sustainable plan in order to internationalise school, take care of a high level of competence and skills development mainly by raising the employees' motivation for continuous professional development and development of new examples of good practices. This will have a positive impact on all employees at our school, our students, as well as their parents and other members of local community. The participation in the programme Erasmus+ has enabled us to achieve the planned objectives faster. With its help, a network of teachers and organisations across the EU has been established to develop and exchange good practices. We strive for positive, long-lasting and sustainable changes in order to reach as many people as possible, not only within school. The project has enabled us to develop practices which are also transferable to other schools and other fields, for example outside of education. The project objectives were to develop skills in project management, effective communication, intercultural awareness, successful planning of various activities to raise the quality of educational work, the acquisition of knowledge, experience and competences. To achieve these goals, a group of people responsible for this field has been formed. We have organised several activities that have contributed to raising the international competence and developing the European and international dimension. The project has provided more international cooperation, and in this way contributed to the internationalisation of our school and development of efficient and effective school policies. Through the project activities, people in the school environment and outside of it have been developing different soft/skills and competences, such as communicative, linguistic, ICT, intercultural competences, learning to learn, self-initiative, etc. All the participants prepared themselves for their in-training where they got to know other school systems, exchanged their experiences, good practices, teaching methods, preparation and the use of materials, in a professional way, also by improving their linguistic skills and their cultural knowledge, according to their needs and school needs, read relevant materials, checked adequate tools and carefully planned implementation of results (knowledge, reports, products) and their dissemination. Acquired experience and new knowledge have had a positive impact on their professional and personal development, their self-confidence and motivation for work, further in-training (long-lasting, lifelong learning) and participation in international projects have risen as well. They have passed the acquired knowledge on to other employees, students and other members of community. They have encouraged students to get more interested in learning about cultural diversity, have made them aware of the importance of lifelong learning, development of key competences and acquiring various skills. Project activities have contributed to raising motivation for learning which is important because for successful professional and personal life we need knowledge, good competences, relevant skills, optimism, high motivation, awareness of the importance of lifelong learning and active integration into it. Even though we do not have many early school-leavers, we are aware of the fact that our task is to prepare students for further education with the raise of competences and long-lasting, especially internal, motivation. We strive for healthy, safe and creative school environment which offers our students pool of expertise and promotes the development of positive self-image. We try to provide safe learning at school where theory and practice are intertwined. Moreover, we strive for positive interpersonal relationships among students, teachers and parents; we develop ideas for participation in different projects with schools in and out of Slovenia (EU and worldwide). We make students aware of the importance of lifelong learning, healthy lifestyle (diet, sports, attitude to themselves: self-image, self-confidence and interpersonal relations) and ecological awareness. We strive for successful students, well-trained for life in modern society in order to be able to become self-initiative and active citizens. The project was evaluated on a regular basis, we monitored its progress, the extent to which our expectations were achieved and planned further activities which would contribute to realizing our school vision.
