The place of activity for our two volunteers is Germany, Leipzig in our local YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association). It is an international project with partners from the Ukraine and Spain that is set for a duration for 12 month with a volunteer of each country. It is our intention to live cultural diversity between the young people of our activities and staff members. It should help the volunteers to get personal soft scills, feel stronger to act against discrimination and to open and encourage the awareness for a growing together in Europe.The activities of the project are part of the YMCAs youth work in Leipzig. The work is set in one of the areas of Kindergarden, Youth Café and the schoolclub. In the beginning the main tasks of the volunteers are to keep tabs on the work and to know each other personally. After the first time the volunteers will still be attended by a professional who will also help and encourage them to offer their own projects or activities to the youth. Amongst the other work the volunteers should present their countires in a creative and intersting way to draw interset of the kids to other cultures. Out of this it would be nice if they show the common and different things in culutre and mentality from their own perspective.The volunteers will create own projects. For example in the area of recreational activities and practical assistance in our social youth work and democratic projects. Daily tasks are games, sports, creative arts work and a lot more.The vorlunteers takes part in a youth excange with Spain or Ukraine, they will prepare it in a good way, so they get more competences in planing events. The will bei part in the "Willkommensinitiative Schönefeld" and learn how to help and live with refugees in Leipzig.
