SUMMARYDue to increased immigration during the last years, Europe and also Mediterranean countries are undergoing big changes. We can observe growing tensions in the society, fear from people with different cultural backgrounds and the hate towards the “others”. It is being expressed both directly – by supporting violent ideologies and getting involved in physical violence - as well as indirectly – through, for example, negligent actions, hurting words and online hate-speech. Many forms of hate and oppression are too subtle to notice at the first sight, nevertheless, they continue dividing our societies. Unfortunately, young people are the center of what is happening as they are more easily getting radicalized, can easier become victims of violent extremism recruiters and/ or they are required to be more accepting and to be agents for positive change. This is a new challenge for the youth work and we recognize that we should not stay passive, but take the action and contribute to improving the situation. The main idea of this non-formal learning seminar is to gather people working with youth from Europe and Southern Mediterranean in order to find effective tools of the youth work for intercultural dialogue and respecting diversity at the local level that would be countering the spreading of hate and violent ideologies among youth. It will take place 22.-30.10.2016 in Mount Lebanon, Lebanon. The seminar will have impact on 2 main directions: first of all it will contribute to personal and professional development of the Participants – people that work with youth (most of learning outcomes mentioned before in this application); secondly – it will provide the organizations with new tools and ideas on how to counter hate and violence and promote greater understanding and respect for diversity. The project will include 24 youth workers from 5 Programme countries (Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy) and 4 Partner countries (Lebanon, Tunisia, Jordan and Morocco). Because of different needs, size of organizations and level of involvement in the project, we have agreed with partners how many participants would they want and need to involve in this project 2-3 people
