Intercultural Dialogue for Global Leadership and Citizenship in Early Childhood Education
Start date: Dec 1, 2010,

This project provides the possibility for undergraduate early childhood (EC) teacher education students to participate in an international exchange with the goal of building mutual understanding and capacity in global leadership and citizenship through intercultural dialogue. In total, 54 students will have the opportunity to participate in an exchange and 36 staff will engage in the mobility activities within the project. To further the goals of this project, the GLC-EC consortium will develop a shared curriculum around global leadership and citizenship in early childhood education which will be a key vehicle for intercultural dialogue and will address the importance of global leadership enacted by EC teachers with skills and knowledge necessary to operate as global citizens. The project will lead to the development of innovative global curriculum, resources and relationships across institutions and continents as a basis for ongoing collaboration in EC curriculum development and research beyond the life of the project. The results of the project will be consolidated in a resource kit which will be made available to students and staff both within and beyond the GLC-EC consortium, ensuring that the benefits of the project are sustained more widely over the long-term.
