Integrated System for the Improvement and Upgrading of the Strategic and Operational Planning of Tourism Policy. Creation of Modern Structure and Tools for the Public Services used by Visitors. (DIAS NET)
Start date: Feb 23, 2012, End date: Feb 22, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main objective of the project is the development of a complete platform that will support decisions on the shaping, the design and the implementation of effective business plans on tourism policy. This system will be supported by the function of a modern mechanism of structures and tools, which will serve the visitor in matters of requests, complaints, information and services provided. The use and application of new technologies, such as the development of a portal, as well as through the creation of knowledge based networks and cross-border innovation camps, will help increase awareness on the benefits of this new tool. Towards this end, the project partners will create a Trainee Centre and organize workshops and training programs so that business owners will get acquainted with the new tools and understand their potential benefits. Expected Results: Innovation involves taking a new and original approach and finding new ways of using existing resources while looking to develop new resources. For cross border cases this often involves problem solving by mobilising the existing economic, social, cultural and political capital. Being able to innovate allows regions, companies and industries to: adapt to changing circumstances; take advantage of new opportunities; and maximise "returns" from product or process delivery according to the values of the company, industry, or region.Expected results of collaborative innovation include:1. Local authorities working cooperatively with citizen and tourism industry groups to access funds and ideas to develop a strategy of economic and social development 2. A Regional Tourism Organisation entering a new marketing partnership with an inbound tour operator to reduce direct marketing costs and access new markets 3. Local authorities working with businesses to invest in street-scaping and interpretive signing which highlight local attractions 4. An entrepreneur group of small businesses working with local suppliers and establishing a "regional products" outlet for distribution of local goods to tourism markets.
