Integrated Program for skills enhancement of human resources in fashion sectors and facilitation of employees mobility in the cross-border region (SKILLS IN FASHION)

The general objective of the project is the development of a system for improving and certifying the human resources quality and facilitating labor force mobilization in the cross-border region through pilot advisory actions and e-learning practices.The sub-objectives of the project are the following:• The establishment of a Greek-Bulgarian cross-border partnership that will:- assess and transfer knowledge regarding common methodologies and best practices implemented in the EU regarding human resources specialization and workers mobilization focused on cases of cross-border or interregional collaboration,- identify needs and certify qualities in the specific target groups (mid-level and upper level executives, experts and legal outsourcing entities in fashion sectors) - develop relevant support tools and structures offering mentoring, advising and professional orientation services.• The establishment of an electronic database/portal/matchmaking tool/info center that can be used as a labor demand and supply matching tool which will be linked with ACTE, EURES, EUROPASS etc.• The establishment of a network of Helpdesks regarding human resources issues• The pilot application of innovative actions and practices for skills enhancement, which will be addressed to businesses and employees of the sector in the area.• The increase of professional opportunities for the human capital that will make use of the advisory actions. • The organization of 2 seminars for adult educators for the identification of needs in skills and qualities and the skills certification system• The facilitation of the sectoral human capital for movement in individual job markets in the cross-border region through the proposed matchmaking procedures (i.e. Career Days, e-partenariat).• The promotion of business cross-border cooperation through attracting 3rd countries stakeholders (labor force and enterprises) Achievements: The implementation of the proposed project and actions have significant results. The project includes interventions for the sectors human resources and the establishment of a model sectoral approach in Open Labor Market, in order to retain skilled workers in the peripheral productive system of Greece - Bulgaria, (mid-level and upper level executives, experts and frontier workers), resulting in the longevity of the sector in the cross-border area. This model will be based on the creation of tools, structures and procedures that will constitute a complete system of human resources management, aiming at enhancing horizontal skills, facilitating career development and labor mobility.The main innovation of the proposed project is the development of HR Help Desks and their antennas offered services may include mentoring, advising and professional orientation. Enterprises, mid-level executives, experts and frontier workers will be direct beneficiaries of these services. Also, the development of an electronic database/portal that will serve not only as a labor matchmaking tool but as an info centre as well, as it will be linked with involved partners and ACTE, EURES, EUROPASS etc is expected to promote better information and bring together decision makers and business actors in fashion sectors of the cross-border area.The project SKILLS IN FASHION (Integrated Program for skills enhancement of human resources in fashion sectors and facilitation of employees mobility in the cross-border region) has been completed with two successful events that took place on the 18th and 19th of February 2014 in Thessaloniki.Final Conference of the Project SKILLS IN FASHION Tuesday,18th of February 2014, Thessaloniki.The final conference of the project SKILLS IN FASHION under the title The cross border cooperation in the fashion sector took place on Tuesday, 18th of February 2014 at CAPSIS Hotel in Thessaloniki.The conference was attended by 102 participants, mainly businessmen and executives from the fashion sector of three countries: Greece, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Among the participants, were also the projects partners, professors and students from apparel schools.During the conference, the recent progress in the apparel-textile sector in Greece, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as well the results of the analysis of the cross border cooperation in the fashion sector in the above mentioned regions were presented. In addition, the participants had the chance to learn not only the most important results of the project SKILLS IN FASHION but also the tools and the services that have been created to support both the businesses and the employees of the fashion sector in the cross border region of Greece and Bulgaria. More specifically, the participants were informed about the: training programmes, electronic data base/matching tool, e-partenariat and HR Help desks.During the conference, representatives of EVETAM (Materials Industrial Research and Technology Development Centre) presented the international labels, the European legislation and the different types of certifications related to the apparel-textile sector.Partenariat in the fashion sector, Wednesday, 19th of February 2014, ThessalonikiOn Friday, 19th of February 2014, the organizers arranged programmed meetings (partenariat) at CAPSIS Hotel in Thessaloniki between entrepreneurs of apparel-textile from Greece, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.At the partenariat participated 22 companies from Greece, 10 companies from Bulgaria and 4 companies from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and there were 114 meetings in total between the participants targeted to the expansion of their collaboration possibilities. According to statements of the businessmen, the event was extremely successful.Find the right partner here www.skillsinfashion.eu!It is worth mentioning that within the project SKILLS IN FASHION, SEPEE (Hellenic Fashion Industry Association) has created a specific service of e-partenariat between Greece and Bulgaria for the apparel-textile sector. The service is hosted in the web site www.skillsinfashion.eu and contains a database of more than 250 apparel-textile businesses. All of them have their own username and password with which they can search for partners (suppliers - buyers) in the cross border region of Greece and Bulgaria.
