The recent rapid advances of electronics and computing built on the foundation of previous technological achievements in the field have led to the growth emerging technologies of global importance, such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, e-health, internet and mobile communications. ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) is the most vibrant and rapidly evolving technological domain and in order to allow for the next generation of systems, there is a need to exploit through funded research projects the enormous potential of the emerging technologies which are expected to dominate the field in the future. In order to bring these topics to the attention of today’s students, under the requirement for high adaptability of higher education to the above fast technological developments it is essential that the teaching activities in our Universities must be underpinned by the skills and expertise from internationally established research teams. The uneven technological and economic development between the developed and the developing world needs to be bridged by mutual cooperation for better understanding of the people across the political boundaries, targeting the sustainable development of third countries in the field, but at the same time preventing brain drain from those countries, thus maintaining global peace and harmony. The main objective of this proposed project is thus to provide through the mobility between South Asia to Europe a high quality international experience for outstanding early career and established researchers, aiming the widening of existing knowledge on electronics and computing. Even sectors like power management or renewable energy has wide application of communications and electronics in maintaining an energy efficient smart grid system, and therefore, a key feature will be the engagement of the energy and environment sectors in the project implementation.
