The Content of the Project/BackgroundEuropean Comission has signed the 2014-2020 European Safety and Health at Work Strategy Frame in 2014 based on the 2020 EU Strategy which is provided as “ A strategy for a smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth”.In this document ,it is stated that the safety and health at work is the pre-condition for implementing the targets for “sustainable work and increasing the employment”that are mentioned in EU 2020 Strategy. In EU countries ,it is stated that the real targets have been performed although there are some missing parts in assesment of 2007-2012 Safety and Health at Work Strategy Document. As a result,Turkey needs to cover the distance for preventing accidents at work and losses in labour force although there are some open spaces for developing health and safety at work in EU.In recent years ,the increasing infrastructure invesments and housing constructions in Turkey have been a reason of an increased number of employment in construction sector. According to the latest statistics which is announced by Social Security Administration 1.850.000 people are working in construction sector. With in the same statistics; inTurkey %14 of all work accidents ,%28 of accidents which are ended with disability for service,%38 of accident sended with death are occured in construction sector. Also those statistics show that the level of exposure to work accidents increase when the education level decreases. So, the education level becomes the most important issue to solve the problem. However, in Turkey work safety and health modüle is given in only one hour lesson in vocational training which means that in 4 years training there is only 9 hour programme about work safety and health. This programme is the same for all vocational areas. Where as all sectors have its own working areas and risks. Especially the construction sector has a different property since it has various working areas. As a result the trainings should be organized taking those differences into consideration.Consequently, the trainings that are given as work safety and health in construction sector can not meet the necessary needs and it prevents the students to participate in the areas of European quality and capability in which they can move freely. The incapabilities in our training programmes are in a contradiction with the intagration of labour market, competition, employment and growth in European 2020 Strategy.Project Aims andTargetsThis Project aims to contribute to European competences and qualities areas by giving practical trainings about work safety and health which the pre-condition of “Sustainable economy and improvement” stated in EU 2020 Strategy. In order to perform this aim,it is planned to train 14 students in Construction Area,18 students in Electric and Electronic Technologies Area ,and 10 students in Planting Area about the health and safety issues in construction sector .The apprentice ship will be held in Germany and Austria for 3 weeks.Participants Profile andNumbersThere will be 42 volunteer ,successful, and self confident students in 11. And 12. Classes who are in branches of Construction Area,Electric Electronic Area, and Planting Area which are in relation with Construction Sector. Also there will be 4 companion teachers with them. Project ActivitiesThere will be 2 mobilities in 09 April 2017 and in 29 April 2017.22 students will have the practical training in Austria-Wien and 20 students in Germany-Herne.The preparation activities are informing the participants about intercultural, language, risk factors etc. At the end of the mobilities evaluation, assesment, documentation and dissemination activities will be done. The Possible Effects of The ProjectThe Project will lead to improve the competences and knowledge of the students about health and safety issues at work. They will have a chance to improve their current knowledge . Also the Project will contribute to ;their personal development (self confidence, communication, new perspective and express themselves etc), techonology usage competences (new technologies, smart systems etc), and cultural development (breaking the prejudices, learning about new cultures, language abilities etc). The Project also will contribute to the concortium partners to improve the organizational capacities and rendering their missions.Inconclusion ; the project aims, partnership and activities are directly related toEuropean Training 2020 targets of “meeting the needs of increasing high level of competences and decreasing the unemployment” and also directly related to Erasmus+ 2016 Programme targets.
