The project is aimed at 32 students of Vocational Technical High School of Electronics in Warsaw and 20 recent graduates . The students are 18 and 21 years old, on their third year of education. They selected to study one of the following career programmes offered by the school: electronics, information technology, information and communication technology or electrical trade . The graduates will have passed external examinations called Matura and the vocational exams.
The project assumes one month of internship in Spanish and German companies (the first round in October 2016 and the second in May 2017). Graduates will go out for 8 weeks in April and May 2017.
The trainees will be accompanied by two delegated teachers. The graduates will not be assisted by accompanying persons.
The main aim of the project is to provide the youth with initial vocational training in the international environment. Participation in such trainings promotes employability and career development of young graduates. It also enables them to be motivated and competitive in the market. Additionally, international programmes provide opportunities to compare curricula for vocational trainings in other partner countries. It is important to create unified curricula and job requirements in the same field of profession in the European Union. Furthermore, trainees are motivated to develop and practice second language skills in authentic context.
Hands-on experience of the latest technologies and equipment, contact with specialists other than teachers enhance raising awareness, gaining new skills and competences in:
- information technology technician: promoting the importance of constantly developing information technology industry, which is the modern branch of the economy of each country, building awareness of high demand in the workforce of that kind of specialists, extending the competence in installing and operating the computer and peripherals, designing local networks, administering of these networks, designing databases, creating websites and web applications, administering network of operating systems
- information and communication technology technician: similar competences as the information technology technician
- electronics technician: installing and operating electronic devices
- electrical technician: installing, operating and maintaining electrical equipment, machinery and installations
In the above listed trades there are common competencies such as: preparing students to the functioning in the job market as entrepreneurs, using their foreign language skills to read, analyse documentation and understand technical vocabulary
Outcomes of the project:
• increasing employability of young graduates in the job market
• getting initial work experience
• learning functioning in a team
• development of interpersonal skills
• gaining Europass Mobility certificate to confirm skills and competencies in trades
• exchange of experience between the partner organizations and the sharing of good practices
• experiencing the culture of another country of the EU
• development of the school as a unit in charge of vocational training
• training of the teaching staff, exchange of experience with foreign workers, drawing conclusions
• the search for better solutions to the teaching profession
• encouraging other teachers to participate and develop various kinds of projects and programs
• strengthening of the Polish job market by introducing its skilled graduates of foreign experience
EUROMIND (Spain) and Europa-Direkt e.V (Germany) companies were selected as partners in the project. They have many years of experience in developing programs and mobility projects. The companies are believed to ensure the potential success and high quality of the project. Needs analysis of our students in correlation with the current conditions in the job market clearly indicate the relevance of the project.
