We are currently planning to implement new teaching methods alongside the introduction of new media in our three-year vocational upper secondary with the focus on technical engineering. In order to cope with this task successfully we are constantly seeking new contacts as well as best practice examples we may draw on in the course of the build-up of our project. The goal of this project is to develop new teaching methods enabling the deployment of new media with a special focus on the inclusion of those students with ASN (additional support needs). In the first step our project will be launched by two of our colleagues coming from the fields of Mathematics and Computer Science. As our project gears up they will also serve as multipliers for the remaining teachers involved. The subjects Mathematics and Computer Science as represented by our colleagues reflect a great proximity to technically related media and devices. On top of that, a vast range of apps have already been developed as support in these subjects. The indroduction of new technologies must go hand in hand with the the innovation of teaching methods since they both spark the process of creativity and self-expression. In addition to it, various supportive elements may be of great relevance for those with learning difficulties. The training we are about to attend opens up great opportunities to get to know various new approaches as well as their actual feasibilty. The exchange and its results with other colleagues from all over Europe will be passed over and discussed with our staff at school to intensify and elaborate the measures leading to the actual implementation. In the long run, the new ideas we are about to acquire in the course of the exchange with other colleagues should result in the implementation of a new type of teaching culture at our vocational college.
