Innovative Teaching for European Museum Strategies

The main goal of the project was to share experiences and ideas in the context of the relationship between schools and museums in order to enhance the efficacy of formal/informal learning among teenagers. Partners paid attention to the opportunities of development offered by technologies as tools of communication and transmission of knowledge and competences, inspired by the suggestions of the EU recommendations. The experience of each country involved was examined in detail. Partners produced reports about their educational systems. Documents were shared and published in the project web site. All partners participated to a research “on the field”, proposing to students and teachers visits to museums and registering their perceptions. Although the didactic use of museum is appreciated in all the countries involved, the aims of this use are heavily influenced by the different curricula, especially with regard to the study of art history and to the interest in creativity. The project has mainly taken in consideration the example of art museums: this was due not only to the specialization of the partners involved, but also to the need of strengthening the use of technology in art museums. Generally, scientific museums are more keen on adopting ICT solutions in order to make their didactic offering more effective; nevertheless, partners believe that the communication of artistic heritage can be deeply enhanced by the use of technological tools, especially in order to catalyze the attention of the youngsters. The involvement of experts in ICT has helped to widen the perspective in this matter, under a technical and a pedagogical point of view. Further contributions were given by experts from other European countries. This effort strongly enriched the European approach of the project. The project offered training activities for teachers and museum educators. Collaborative learning activities encouraged the sharing of skills and expertise.
