Innovative implementation of joint tourism programme packages for tourism development in Hajdú-Bihar and Bihor counties

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the economic competitiveness of the area by tourism development. The local actors of the tourism industry ought to recognize that the only way to stay competitive is to implement strategically focused developments, as well as to face competitors jointly, in close collaboration with local organizations (enterprises and institutions).The project provides assistance for this effort through the preparation of a detailed study, which examines the possibilities in cross-border co-operations in tourism. The 15-15 participants from each county involved in tourism, compiled a joint tourism program package, and a joint marketing communication plan, elaborated for the effective selling of these packages. The plan determines the most effective marketing tools (i.e. tourism publication, thematic tourism pages of home-sites, forums, tourism database), which will achieve wide publicity for the tourism attractions.The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the economic competitiveness of the area by tourism development.Specific objectives of the project:• Elaboration of background materials, which lay the foundation for tourism co-operations;• Initiating the joint thinking of the actors in tourism industry, promoting their co-operation;The activities of the project are beneficial for both counties, they can mutually utilize the results of the joint developments. The co-operation between Hungarian and Romanian enterprises and the continuous, joint improvement of the quality of the services are essential for sustaining the services offered in the programme packages.The direct target group of the project comprises the individuals and professionals who are active players in the tourism sector of the two counties; the experts of the local tourism and the enterprises engaged in tourism, who are interested in the establishment of the cross-border cooperation. The local self-governments, non-profit organizations, and the actively contributing segment of the population in the two counties also represent the direct target group.The indirect target group includes the population of the area, and the local organizations related to tourism. In addition, actors of the tourism from outside the area belong to the indirect target group: the foreign and domestic tourists visiting the area due to the implementation of the project, who will receive further information about the attractions, sights, accommodation facilities, restaurants and traditional local products.The results of the project: thematic tourism program packages (as part of the tourism study); joint marketing and communication plan; printed tourism publications for the active participants of tourism sector (enterprises, organizations); pen-drives with the tourism publication; tourist guide for tourists (folded brochure, color, with map); 8 workshops; tourism database for assisting the cooperation between the active participants of tourism sector; thematic tourism content supplementing the Internet home-pages of the two partner organizations (content: tourism database, list of attractions and services, discussion forum, abbreviated version of the documents prepared.
