INNOMET II – Further development of the innovative database model for adding innovation capacity of labour force and entrepreneurs of the metal engineering, machinery and apparatus sector

The test version of the INNOMET system is the basis for this project; it was an information system, developed with LdV, which created a database, for the sector of engineering industries, on 1) all existing educational opportunities, study programmes and links to the e-learning platforms concerned with the sector, 2) industrial needs for human resources, skills and competences in the private manufacturing sector, 3) employee existing qualification standards and qualifications awarding process. This second project develops and realizes, in the same field and with two new partners, a workforce performance evaluation in terms of local and European needs, with the aim of increasing the responsiveness of educational institutions to business demand and improving the access of vocational and higher educated specialists into the labour market. INNOMET II also introduces a glossary, whose aim is to develop a common and transnational definition of the specific terminology used in the partners’ countries. The new specific methodology is developed to evaluate and measure qualifications and skills actually needed in the companies of the sector, and secondly to produce new information on foreseen educational and re-training needs; a comparative analysis is therefore realized to verify the compatibility of the evaluation methodology with the existing best practices of human resources evaluation in Southern Europe areas. The methodology confirms to be a transparent and integrated system; with its use, it is possible to compare and evaluate key skills and qualifications both in the industry and in educational programmes, to transfer competences across countries and specific sectors.
