The teaching staff of our school is facing the task to teach more students with special needs in the future and to implement the aimed guidelines of inclusion. Our main targets in this respect are the support of every student according to his individual needs and the establishment of a new atmosphere at our school where everybody does not think of inclusion as a problem, but a chance to develop tolerance and to break down prejudices by living and learning together in diversity.
Furthermore, the development of modern media does not only provide new possibilities of innovative teaching methods, but also challenges us to enable our students to use the media reasonably to gain knowledge and to acquire fundamental competences for lifelong learning. In order to cope with these challenges we have to develop and to improve our own competences concerning the use of modern media, differentiating teaching methods as well as our skills in dealing with children who have special needs and problems or disorders.
The seven members of our project team want to support this development responsibly and take the initiative in this process. Taking part in the chosen European courses for further education and sharing the gained knowledge with our staff will contribute to increased competences of all colleagues. We will be able to draw up and implement an inner-school curriculum of inclusion and the use of modern media. That way we hope to push ahead the progression of our school in order to create innovative and inclusive learning environments. These should give our students the possibility to develop their skills and abilities in an optimum way in order to reach the best possible school degree and to improve their chances at the European job market.
