A successful first try to transform !After a first project Erasmus+ made during 2014-2016, mobility programs and the European Section Bac Pro become routines in the practices of the high school Paul Bert.Drawing on its experience in terms of vocational training and its high success rate at the Baccalaureat, the Paul Bert vocational secondary school is still in accordance with its initial project called ‘innovative tradition’. At the heart of Bayonne, a city where tradition mingles with art, making the most of the demographic and economic dynamism of the BAB (Biarritz, Anglet, Bayonne) local council community, 30 kilometers away from the Spanish border, the school intends to benefit from the experience it has acquired in the educative field to subscribe to the European project Erasmus+. This decision appears in the School Development Plan approved by the June 2012 Board with the setting up of a European section, a fifth form vocational training in commerce. In August, 2014, the Erasmus project + which is presented by the Paul Bert vocational secondary school and which extends over a period of two years is retained by the European Agency. The opportunity to favour both linguistic and professional skills, to enhance the European dimension of its learning, experiment citizenship beyond the domestic field, and confront a different culture is offered in the second program to 20 students, 10 of them in june 2017 and 10 others in juin 2018. These pupils are chosen among the various sections of commerce. The Paul Bert secondary school has chosen the neighbouring Navarre as Pampelune is twinned with Bayonne. The building of a partnership with the Instituto Maria Sanz which offers trainings in the tertiary sector similar to ours is an exceptional prospect to make it possible for this project to last. That's why the secondary school remains faithful to its partner. Not only does it develop the search for firms liable to take our students but also their integration in a different linguistic and cultural context. Besides, thanks to Mrs Della Flora, the project manager, the Paul Bert secondary school can offer its knowledge of local firms to the teachers of the Navarre Institute. M Garcia and Mr Lauga, who teach commerce, Mrs Testemale and Mrs Roquefort who teaches Spanish, are the kingpins of this project, choosing the pupils as the companies, preparing the pupils for the evaluation. Having already welcomed Paul Bert trainers, four trading names in this commercial area are liable to welcome some of European Section students during the first mobilities in june 2017 (Leroy Merlin, Toys’R’ Us, Leclerc, Maria Fernandez) and we are looking for six others during the mobility of two teachers, in april 2016 (the current program 2014-2016 is not finished yet). The objectives are manyfold:* for the students, it will be a way to confront their linguistic knowledge with the reality, thus showing their ability to adapt to some professional environment, using what they have learnt during their Spanish courses* it is an opportunity for the students to enrich their resumes with some work experience and create their CVs or Europass online* for the teachers, exchanging with their Spanish colleagues may be the occasion to compare the skills reference documents and diversify their practices and approaches* for the school, communicating via the welcome booklet or the Internet site will be the occasion to implement this ‘innovative tradition’, a pillar of the school, Lycée des Métiers, in a renovated space since the 1er of January 2015.
