Start date: Feb 1, 2015, End date: Jan 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Information et promotion des programmes de mobilité", coordinated by MIJ, will imply the participation of 3 European volunteers and last 12 months. 2 volunteers will come for 6 months from Hungary and 1 !Belgian EVS will stay 12 months in Nouméa. At MIJ, the young volunteers will discover the issues faced by young Caledonians related to unemployment and training and help them towards their social inclusion. MIJ believes that one of many solutions towards inclusion is mobility. The main mission of the volunteers will be the promotion of mobility programs to young people from New Caledonia. They will be the Europen ambassadors of mobility programs on the island. Unfortunately, many young Caledonians are not aware of the opportunities offered to them in terms of mobility programs and especially EVS programs. Mobility programs are solutions towards social inclusion for people willing to acquire new skills, discover new cultures or even participate to community projects. It is actually one of the priorities of the New Caledonian government and represents a growing interest among youngsters. During their EVS experience, Hungarian and Belgian volunteers will have the opportunity to participate to many events in the South province and will get in touch with different people, mainly coming from tribes and usually far from urban areas. They will also participate and after a while even elaborate their workshops in order to better inform and promote mobility programs. Europe remains for many young Caledonians an unknown concept and those 3 volunteers will be the perfect ambassadors of mobility programs and will thus share their living experience with the New Caledonians. Actually, one of the issues of this project could be "Youth speaks to Youth" because it is quite an important part of this project. At MIJ, volunteers will also discover Oceanian cultures and will better understand the issues and needs of young New Caledonians, especially those coming from remote tribal areas. When they aren't on the field, the volunteers will be in Cap Mobilités, the new location n the MIJ building dedicated to mobility programs. In Cap Mobilités, the volunteers will have the opportunity to inform young people and create innovative ways to reach the targeted audience. The volunteers will take part in many activities organized by MIJ: radio shows, events, fairs...
