AFORP, Industrial and technological Training Center for operators, technicians and advanced technicians in industry in Ile-de-France since 1961, manages 4 regional units and trained 1500 apprentices each year. Since a few years, AFORP develops a job-skills approach in order to answer the technical and managerial skills needed by the companies of the sector. AFORP is therefore an agile and innovative VET institute, connected to the changing companies’ needs, of the society and technologies.The companies in the industrial sector now expect senior technicians, Bac (NVQ Level 3) and BTS (NVQ Level 4), who are able to speak about technical skills and competences in english. Furthermore, each year, 50% of apprentices in technical baccalaureate level continue their professional and technical training until the BTS level. It is therefore important that apprentices, who already have built a professional project, can have access to such an opportunity to enhance their professional skills, intercultural and language (English), broaden their horizons, make them gain in confidence, motivation and employability on the European labor market, and raise awareness of European mobility. This is why, in recent years, AFORP developed European mobility projects for all its apprentices and particularly, since 2011, a Leonardo mobility project for the technical baccalaureate level named I AM AFORP.This project meets apprentices’ needs to gain confidence, to prepare to be mobile in their careers and be reactive for an industrial and technological sector, more and more competitive, by discovering news professional cultures, improving their professionalization and gain new technical competences and skills. The AFORP will then strengthen the quality development and internationalization of its training methods in order to enhance the vocational training at a European level.To do so, AFORP works in partnership with three organizations:• SEDU in Seinäjoki (Finland) - VET, which forms in the same areas as the AFORP• Arbeit und Leben Hamburg (Germany) - intermediary organization specialized in sending and receiving groups of European apprentices in VET Institute (as G10) and companies• MFA in Faro (Portugal) - intermediary organization specialized in sending and receiving groups of European apprentices companies and VET InstituteThe project will last 2 academic years (June 2015-June 2017) and will involve 32 apprentices per year in the areas of sheet metalwork and welding, electronic engineering and automation, and machining. Each mobility will last two weeks. SEDU will host 2 groups of 8 apprentices per year, Arbeit und Leben 1 group of 8 apprentices per year, MAE 1 group of 8 apprentices per year. The first mobility activity will take place in January-February, the 2nd one in March-April.Apprentices are chosen and sent among partners based on their training areas and competences. The selection criteria are based on their diligence and motivations for the project, the agreement of their company in France, and of course the apprentices’ and families’ agreement. The partners are also involved in the candidates’ selection process thanks to their Europass CV.Language and cultural preparation is organized by AFORP and the receiving partner. It will also be continued on site abroad.During the mobility, the apprentices are exclusively in professional practice, in a workshop in the welcoming VET Institute or within foreign companies. Regarding the partnership with MAE, the apprentices will only do on-the-job activity. The activities carried out by apprentices involved in the exchange will match modules or themes of AFORP training standards. These activities might lead to a certification of skills and competences (ECVET).The project's monitoring is carried out by the steering committee of the AFORP and the partners' mobility coordinator. Activities and skills acquired by students in the context of mobility will be validated by the hosting partner.In addition to this action, AFORP opened an application form for a partnership project which will aim to develop an ECVET system for specific units in electronic engineering (BTS level). SEDU, G10, Tempo Libero in Italy and Technifutur in Belgium are our partners on this project. This will strengthen the methodology and tools for the training during the exchanges.
