Increasing the regional accessibility in the cross border region by rehabilitation of two local roads, passing through vineyards in the Municipality of Lom and City Municipality of Pantelej (Modern and Safe Transport Infrastructure)

The first of the strategic purposes of the Development Plan of Lom Municipality 2007 - 2013 is the transformation of the town into a modern transport and communication center with national and international importance.The favourable geographic location, international transport corridors in the region, rich hisotrical and cultural heritage - all these factors expand the role of the tourism and help for reducing the unemployment. The use of European funds as a possibility to attract investments for the local development in the municipality and the cross border cooperation are some of the main instruments for overcoming the weaknesses and constraints of the region. Development of the transport infrastrucutre on regional, national and transnational level (Port Lom, corridor 7, corridor 4, terminal for combined transport).Rehabilitation and modernisation of the technical infrastructure and improvement of the connections with Euroepan networks.Establishment of economic zones. Clusters development and increasing the competitivness, attraction of direct foregn investments for increasing the employement. Creation of new processing enterprises for agricultural production, local markets and local supportive center. Encouragement of the small and medium business development, creation of business centers, participation in programs on national level. Completing the construction of the ferry complex Lom-Rast is one of the priorities for Lom Municipality. This will have an incredible croos -border impact for the cross border region Bulgaria-Romania-Serbia and will increase the attractiveness of the municipal terrains, situated near the ferry.
