Incorportating mobile learning into mainstream education and training

The project addresses the sector of e-learning, mobile learning, mobile communication. Its aim is to incorporate mobile learning into mainstream education and training. Mobile learning is the provision of education and training on Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), palmtops/handhelds and on smartphones and mobile phones. Target groups are administrators of mainstream education, students, education institutions. The project starts from the fact that some projects on the issue have been carried out, the aim of this one is to make the next step and to bring mobile learning into mainstream education. The expected results are: (1) a mobile development guide for the use of mainstream institutions to enable them to introduce mobile learning; (2) the messaging package (in the languages EN, FR,HU) for the introduction of mobile learning in mainstream institutions; (3) 20 course guides for the use in mainstream courses on PDAs, smart and mobile phones (study guidance, course summaries, examination preparation) all with the latest mobile technologies including student support and tutor contact; (4) 10 full modules for the use as mainstream courseware. Valorisation shall take place through a special interest group (with 1100 members) made up by the European Distance and eLearning Network and beyond. Students and education institutions shall be integrated in the valorisation process as well. For dissemination a website will be built up, a book on the project and articles will be published, and an international conference will be organised. The impact is seen in the fact that mobile learning will be moving from project status to mainstream education.
