Inclusive and collaborative youth leadership
Start date: Apr 1, 2014,
This project – "Inclusive and collaborative youth leadership" – is a group EVS project with two young volunteers from Sweden going to Kyrgyzstan and two young volunteers from Kyrgyzstan to Sweden, for a full years duration. In Sweden, activities will be taking part in Lund and Malmö, southern Sweden, where the NGO Tamam has several local branches. In Kyrgyzstan, the activities will be conducted within Youth of Osh and be centered around the city of Osh and its environs. The work of the volunteers will connect with issues of integration, inclusion and motivation of marginalized children and youth in both countries – newly arrived refugees in Sweden and socially, geographically and economically marginalized youth in Kyrgyzstan. The volunteers will also be assisting in strengthening both organizations, deepening the collaboration and extending the exchange of best practices and working methods, thus opening up for joint future projects and leader/youth exchanges. Examples of activities during the service are: leisure time activities, games, communicational activities through music and dance, creative drama, conducting trainings and workshops, critical discussion clubs, cultural and language activities, social project design, coaching youth, as well as administrative tasks for the organizations. The involved volunteers will in the future serve as links between Tamam and Youth of Osh and ensure future close development cooperation. Volunteers will also share their experiences upon return to their home countries with young people in and outside their organizations, through seminars, workshops and lectures at a variety of venues.
