Inclusion Ambassadors
Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Jan 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Inclusion Ambassadors is the result of 7 years of EVS hosting experience of Egyesek Youth Association combined with the creativity and enthusiasm of 10 committed volunteers. Our volunteers, coming from 9 countries (Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine) were living and working in Nógrád county, one of the poorest regions of Hungary. The volunteers lived in Szécsény and worked with children and youth in the town and the surrounding villages. The concept of the project was to give responsible role to less-opportunity international youth in a disadvantaged area, and while acting as an example of an active citizen they gain self-confidence, leadership skills, experience in youth work, and knowledge in NGO structures. Egyesek's youth workers all the time support the volunteers learning path, follow-up their process and give tailor-made tasks to create safety in the development process of EVSers. For 10 months volunteers organized English speaking action-based learning events for local roma and non roma kids and youngsters. They created a youth center in the village of Nagylóc for the local children, they maintained and filled it with events for the local children. The EVSers run an information point in the community center of Szécsény where language courses, orientation events and info sessions took place, and they were creating an online communication channel collecting the local youth as well. They successfully involved 25 high school students to their work as co-creators, reaching together more than 500 children and youth in the region and involving 5 local partners and 3 schools. They participated in several local events representing Egyesek, calling attention to European youth mobility opportunities and promoting local solutions, active participation and inclusion. Being an example, they realized their own initiatives, small projects, as a fusion of their expertise, experience and interest as a way for their own personal and professional development and for the benefit of the local community. EVSers became an important part of the local community they triggered rural youngster to be active, get involved to international projects and take action towards solving challenges of their own community. By this they contributed to the development of the local community and they left an inevitable, permanent footprint in the life of Nógrád, as ambassadors of inclusion.
