PROJECT
FINISHED
Project 'Include yourself, include the others' is an EVS project, hosted by Center Janez Levec Ljubljana who has been taking part in EVS projects since 2010. Center is an educational institution, providing schooling and education for children and youngsters with special needs. These youngsters and children are often pushed on the edge of active social life and for this reason we have started organising international events to show them they too have broader range of options as they think. Besides educating which is our main task, we are organising activities with which we want to place these children and youngsters in the focus of society. These activities promote inclusive culture and socialising among all children and youngsters from different educational, cultural and social backgrounds. The basics of this free time activities is connecting children and youngsters through playing and spending time together.EVS project includes partners from Macedonia (Volunteers Centre Skopje), Bosnia and Hercegovina (SOS Social Centre Hermann Gmeiner, Foundation Wings of Hope) and Serbija (Centre E8). We will host tour of three volunteers for 12 months, from the 2. 9. 2016 until the 31. 8. 2017. By the time the project starts, all the four volunteers will have finished with their official education. They have gained their education in various fields: journalism, fine arts, law and technical sciences. They've all have lenghtly experience in the field of voluntary work and have a positive attitude towards working with people with special needs. The themes of the project are disability, creativity and inclusion. The project is made of three parts: first, the volunteers will be included in the work at our schools (Sept 2016 - Jun 2017); the second part will be project work, done at the Project office (through the year, but most intensively in May 2017), whereas the last part will be done in Summer 2017 (July - Aug) through the work at the inclusive youth hostel "Pri Janezu", helping our youngsters with special needs who will also work there. The volunteers will be encouraged to realise their own project and to be included in the organisational project team in charge of organising inclusive projects that are already taking place within our institution. Through active involvement in the project volunteers will gain skills, competences and experience that will contribute to their competitiveness, when they will be entering the labour market. The aim of the project is to promote the exchange of experiences among youngsters from different cultural and social backgrounds, to give the youngsters and children living and educating in the frame of our institution the opportunity to learn about other countries and cultures, to promote values as democracy, freedom, human rights. The project encourages learning about differences and the accepting of them. The effect of EVS service is widely recognised, not only with those that have a direct contact with it, but also with the local area and its people.
