The main road 70 leads to Niirala border crossing station. The quantity of traffic passing through Niirala increases steadily. As a result of the increasing traffic volume also the traffic safety risks increase. The project will improve traffic safety by completing road lighting in risky places on the main road 70 and on the road 486 between Onkam and Niirala as well as between Puhos and Tohmajärvi, as well as by building separate lines for giving way (e.g. the right-side line at crossroads) and safety zones on the road 486. Achievements: All of the planned procedures that improved safety were completed for main road 486 and main road 70.
