Improving the Digital Skills and the Quality Performance within the Catering Sector in Malta

The Dig_Qual_MT_Cater Project is an Erasmus Plus KA1 Project for VET Staff dedicated to 48 members of the catering establishments licensed by the MTA especially the Quality Assured restaurants. The mission of the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) is to advance the economic and social activity of tourism in the national interest, by working with stakeholders to develop a sustainable industry based on innovation, competitiveness and quality. The Quality and Industry Human Resource Development Unit is responsible for the project. The Unit is responsible for the development of national human resources development initiatives for the tourism industry. This is done through promoting a service culture with the industry thereby raising service standards; through building a strong relationship with employment, education and training institutions and also through EU funded projects related to human resources. The participants of the Dig_Qual_MT_Cater Project have the chance to complete a work placement programme of 1 week in Rome, Italy hosted by Sweb Srl, a private company with an expertise on Digital Skills and primarily on Web Marketing and SEO strategies. Participants of the project will also receive full support for booking flights to and from project destination, transfers to and from airport, local transportation tickets, accommodation and meals. Insurance coverage is one important issue for a secure and risk less experience for all organizations involved and for all participants. All participants will receive adequate insurance coverage during their stay abroad. The period of the mobility will range from the beginning of November 2016 until January 2018. Participants will leave in groups of 12 participants each. This will be the training content developed during the work placement in Italy: Work Experience | Area 1 - SEO COPYWRITING:Through this work-base learning, the participants will learn how to use the SEO techniques, to position their web site for search engines, and how to write an optimized content for their web pages, whilst focusing on these following areas:- Information about the search engines;- Selection of strategic keywords of their personal web site;- To position the web page, whilst applying the SEO techniques;- Creation of a web content as optimized for search engines;- Use of Google Analytics for screening of the web site.Work Experience | Area 2 - SEM – Google Adwords:Through this work-based learning, the participants will focus on the following areas, with the scope of learning, how to plan a cost effective Google Adwords Campaign:- Functioning of Google Adwords;- Selection of Keywords for an Adwords Campaign;- Writing of articles and advertisements to be uploaded on the web;- Preparation of a responsive Landing Page;- Campaign Optimization and Monitoring.Work Experience | Area 3 - Social Media Marketing: Facebook and Instagram:Through this work-based learning, the participants will focus on Social Media Marketing whilst learning how to use Facebook and Instagram as a tool to increase the business and the number of clients.This hands-on practice will give the opportunity to learn how to use the strategy of communication and how to promote business through these marketing tools, mainly:- Choosing the right strategy for the Social Media Marketing;- Writing a responsive post;- Planning an editorial for the Social Media Marketing;- Enlightening the followers on the fan page, whilst increasing the engagement rate;- Creating and managing advertisements campaigns on Facebook and Instagram;- Monitoring and analysing the date of the advertisements campaigns on the Social Media.The participants also receive a period of preparation before the mobility: a Brief Refresher Course about the actual contents of ICT professional traineeship within Sweb Srl, some linguistic and cultural awareness, and preparation focusing on the hosting destination and on its main peculiarities. The main objective of the Dig_Qual_MT_Cater Project with regards to the needs of the participants are:• Acquire skills and knowledge through a work placement abroad; • Develop processes of integration and social inclusion;• Acquire a sense of European citizenship;• Acquire practical and technical experience in the ICT Sector;• Develop flexibility through teamwork;• Exchange good practices of ICT; • Acquire new professional training and development.Attended results for participants of the Dig_Qual_MT_Cater Project are: 1. Basic Competences: languages and rules relating to a different working environment. 2. Transversal Competences: communication skills whilst adapting to a different working environment, country and culture.3. Technical and Professional Competences: familiarize with the opportunity offered by the ICT Sector in other EU countries, acquire new skills and knowledge that may enhance new and updated technologies in the food industry.
