Improving teachers' internationalisation and ICT skills
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

We haven't had much international activities at our school for ages - and teachers haven't been very willing to start any. However, in the future we would like to start eTwinning- and Erasmus+2 -projects, because we would like to offer our students high-quality global education and foreign language teaching. Therefore we aim at increasing our teachers' and school managers' skills and enthusiasm towards international co-operation. To reach succesful European co-operation our teachers would need training for their ICT skills, which would also contribute to the active introduction of more modern teaching methods of foreign language teaching. Thus, even our students would benefit from the active the teachers' improved skills. Mobilities should be attended by at least our English language teacher and the head of education and maybe two or three other teachers who will be involved in eTwinning. Our English language teacher would take part in a training course that concentrated in the effective use of web tools in project work, as she has started an eTwinning project and she intends to continue to actively use eTwinning as a part of the curriculum in both primary and secondary school. Being confident and skillful in using web tools would make project work easier, more meaningful, more convenient and less stressful. The next training course for foreign language teacher would concentrate in how to use computers in language teaching and it would meet our teachers' need to develop their skills to use of information and communication technology and bring enthusiasm, knowledge and confidence to use of more modern methods in foreign language teaching. Our head of education and one of our teachers would take part in job shadowing course held in Spain, where they would get to know a different school system and get new inspiration for their own work, as well as an opportunity to discuss with other European teachers and to develop future partnerships. During the project two to four of our teachers would make job shadowing in Greece and Spain, located in the eTwinning partner schools (or other schools) . The aim of these mobilities would be to increase the skills and enthusiasm for international co-operation. The desired effects of the project would be the improvement of foreign language teachers' language skills and technology skills , as well as the more effective use of new teaching methods and information technology in foreign language teaching , which could improve our students enthusiasm and results in studying. We could get the international education in our school to a good level, while due to the training our teachers' and school managements' enthusiasm and confidence in their performance of the international co-operation will increase - and with it the number of students to get involved in eTwinning will increase. To conclude, in long term our students would benefit the most of the project, since they would get involved in international activities, which might affect their view of the world , and even future plans. Students' tolerance and sence of community will increase.
