TEACHER DEVELOPMENT . LANGUAGE SKILLS AND IMPROVING METHODOLOGYINTRODUCTION AND SCHOOL PHILOSOPHYFor years, our school has followed a very clear educational path, which aims to help our students to develop a critical view of our global society. Two of our key points in the development of this school plan are to promote European citizenship and to improve communicative competence in English, which is basic for a proper development in the current changing global society. Therefore our school has been and is involved in several European projects (Comenius and Erasmus+) , and innovative plans in foreign language learning (PELE and PILE) .OUR REALITY , METHODOLOGY AND DETECTED NEEDSHaving met with the teaching team for an analysis of our reality, based on a methodology of pooling the detected facts and taking into account the objectives that we set as a centre for the development of European consciousness and foreign language learning, we have identified the following needs:- Better training for teachers to introduce English as a language of use in some subjects.- Better training in the field of new language learning methodologies especially those which are collaborative and cooperative.- Better training in ICT.PROJECT AIMS- To Improve the training of our teaching staff in the use of the English language and new teaching methodologies.- To improve the communicative competence of our students in English.- To extend the cross-cultural knowledge of teachers.- To encourage European consciousness and an interest in the cross-cultural knowledge within our educational community.PARTICIPANTS AND PROPOSED ACTIVITIESActivity 1 - Analysis of reality and needs of the school, and training proposal. Staff involved: All the teaching staff, specially management team and teachers involved in training. Activity 2 - Training mobility.A. Course "EP3 Intensive English Language & EFL Methodology in Practice Module 1:Exploiting Resources Module 2: Early Language learning". Training provider: Richard Language College - Place: Bournemouth (Reino Unido) - Dates: July 4 to 15, 2016 B. Course "EP 11. 5 Five day Study Visit for Head Teachers, Deputy Heads, School Management, Senior Teaching Staff, European Programme Coordinators". Training provider: Shadows Professional Development Ltd - Place: Bournemouth (Reino Unido) - Dates: October 17 to 21, 2016 .C. Job Shadowing Training provider: English Matters Place: Finland Dates: October 8 to 14, 2016.D. Job Shadowing Training provider: English Matters Place: Iceland Dates: April 23 to 29, 2017.E. Job Shadowing Training provider: English Matters Place: Holanda Dates: November 19 to 25, 2017.Activity 3 - Diffusion, implentation and evaluation. Staff involved: All the faculty and especially teachers who have attended the training.EXPECTED RESULTS AND IMPACTWith this project we hope to achieve :- Improvement in the English language proficiency of participating teachers and especially of our students- Application of new methodologies in all the areas, specially in teaching English and improvement of the current methodology and materials.- Systematical diffusion through a blog creation, linked to the school website. - Providing contacts for possible future educational projects with schools in the EU.- Publicizing the experience to colleagues, to encourage them to participate in European programs on future occasions.EVALUATION AND VISIONEvaluation : We'll work to analyse the level of implementation of new methodologies within different subjects and levels, and the improvement of the Language English proficiency of students through interaction, observation and various assessment tests.Long-term benefits : Improved language proficiency of students, more faculty involvement in development projects, and a greater consciousness of belonging to the European Union.
