Improving knowledge and competencies of automotive workers for the factories ofthe future

Whereas the automotive sector plays a key role in the European economy and is as an industry is booming, it is crucial that in this sector workers are prepared for the demands of increased competitiveness. Various reports and studies have found that there are certain curricular deficiencies in the qualification of automotive workers whose solution would greatly enhance its versatility and therefore productivity of the entire industry.The focus of our project CARDEMY is on an innovative and high-quality orientation of education, where the acquisition of key skills for automotive industry are based in a Learning Factory model. Learning Factory is a new model of VET focused on the real industry needs, which pilots on workers’ skills and competences. Learning factories have been developed to impart substantial knowledge about improvement process concepts and methods to students and industrial seminar participants within a real-world manufacturing environment. Project will study this methodology and analyse how to implement in other EU countries, improving its adaptation to new market requirements through the integration of an Industry 4.0 perspective in the model.In CARDEMY participate 5 partners, complementary in terms of nationality, expertise and competences:• Coordinator: Fundación AITIIP is a Spanish Technological Centre, expert in R+D and training European projects with important links with automotive sector.• MECANIC VALLEE (MV) is a French cluster of manufacturers and federates an interregional network of prime manufacturers and subcontractors in the mechanical sector, including automotive.• Intercultural Consultancy and Studies, INCCAS, is a German organization that works in training and cooperation develop and conduct E-learning and Blended Learning programs.• The Automotive Cluster of Aragon (CAAR), is a Spanish cluster-type association that mainly is devoted to encourage companies in the automotive sector of Aragon to cooperate and collaborate in projects and foster R&D&i in the automotive sector in Aragon as well as to promote the use of new technologies.• Moravian-Silesian Automotive Cluster c.a. (MAK) was established to increase competitiveness and to encourage innovation and export capacity of interconnected companies, entrepreneurs and institutions in the Czech region of Moravia-Silesia.The main activities areas with the following structure and deliverables:STUDIES: The main objective of this action is to identify gaps in current curricula for automotive workers. Also an analysis on the possibilities for improving the skills and training needs of automotive workers (target group) and prepare studies for diverse stakeholders, likewise as a prospective report or policy recommendations.PEDAGOGICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES: The main objective is to develop the e-learning platform and the contents, which will be based on an internet site and available for every platform or computer used. The methodology “Learning Factory” will be also implementedDISSEMINATION: The main aim is to provide the project with clear information and communication strategies in order to promote an increased visibility of the project objectives and the European partnership, and to ensure the exploitation and sustainability of project results in other institutions and countries. EVALUATION AND QUALITY MONITORING: The main goal is to monitor and evaluate the achievement of the project goals during whole project duration.EXPLOITATION OF RESULTS: The objective is to ensure the sustainability of the project by drafting the pertinent strategy for exploitation (contacting different stakeholders, drafting pre-agreements)The IO are the following:• O1-Design of the curricula for automotive industry• O2-E-Learning modules • O3-Learning factories: methodology, pedagogics and implementation• O4-Policy recommendations regarding training and employability in automotive sector• O5-Prospective and strategic decision: training in automotive FoFImpact for users:• Improved levels of skills for employability, with training fitting to automotive market necessities.• Better understanding and recognition of skills and qualifications in Europe• Improved competences.• Increased opportunities for professional developmentImpact for industry:• Increased quality of training in European automotive industry.• Training better aligned to the needs of labour market.• Improved provision and assessment of basic and transversal skills.• Reinforced interaction between practice, research and policy in each system. • Contributing to the development of a European Area of Skills and Qualifications• Increasing the labour market relevance of VET provisionThe exploitation strategy includes the extrapolation of the results to an international level.
