Approximately 10% of population is affected by a learning disorder, which often robs them of chance to learn new skills, even when it is possible with slightly modified teaching methodology. The project Music for All is designed to address issues in connection with accessibility to qualitative, goal-oriented music education by people with special needs. The issues that the project addresses can be classified into two major groups: 1. Available teaching methods, materials and capacity of music educators to provide people with special needs with qualitative music teaching. 2. Generally flawed attitude to people with special needs as musicians: by music teachers, legislators, fellow musicians and society in general. The project aims to contribute to an attractive and dynamic society in the Programme area, and more specifically – towards social inclusion and fight against discrimination. All people have the right to education and be respected as learners, not only patients. However, right to education also means right to receive appropriate, customized, and effective education. Unfortunately, many teachers lack the tools and methods to adapt their teaching for people with special needs. This project addresses this issue in the field of music education. Therefore the overall objective of the project is to integrate people with special needs in society and offer them the same opportunities as any other person has. The specific objectives of this project are to: 1. provide access for people with special needs to high-quality, customised music education, 2. improve attitudes towards music students with specials needs among politicians, teachers, fellow musicians, and society in general. To achieve this, Partners will organise three experience exchange workshops for teachers, a joint teachers seminar to develop idea bank for a methodological handbook for special music education that will be available in four languages, art camp Meeting in Music". Music teachers and the general public will learn about the project and special music education through a ducomentary Music for All, through blog, press releases, final conference and local dissemination events. Achievements: The project worked on providing access of people with special needs to high-quality customized music education. The project educated and encouraged teachers by introducing new learning methods. The project also focused on improving the attitudes of politicians, teachers, fellow musicians, and society in general. The project organised experience exchange workshops as well as a joint teachers seminar to develop a methodological handbook for special music education. An art camp, Meeting in Music, was arranged to test the methodological handbook. Music teachers and the general public learned about the project and special music education through a TV documentary Music for All, a blog and several dissemination events. The project received a lot of inquiries from teachers and parents of people with special needs wanting to be involved in the project activities.
