Improvement of social pedagogues professional qualification by mediation implementation;
Social pedagogue is the youngest profession in Lithuania, so system of professional knowledge and skills development is not yet fully developed. There no tools and experience to help social pedagogue acquire the necessary social competence in practical work with young people. Mediation in work with children and young people not in practice in Lithuania, although the need is clearly declared. According Children's Rights Ombudsman Institution data, mediation as practise still now is observed in legal practice only. In practise, families and children as two warring sides are practically bringing together for fighting. Therefore, work with children and their families looks more imitative and less of social. Assoc. Dr.Jolanta Sondaitė investigated (2009) the Vilnius district student, teacher and parent attitudes, knowledge and willingness to use mediation capabilities. The vast majority of the school community are not aware of the mediation (82 percent. pupils, 71 percent teachers and 83 percent. parents). About half of the students and teachers in the event of a conflict to seek the assistance of a trained mediator, if that possibility is. The same situation in practise is observed both in Lithuania and Latvia. The one difference could be strengthen regarding mediation for child and families: there done some researches in Lithuania, but Latvia do not have any information in question. The main aim of project is to transfer a package of training and methodical material of mediators preparation. Objectives:Develop methodical tools for mediators preparation;Promote high experienced professionals to work with other social pedagogues and encourage them to become mediators;Create a network of mediators.Mediators training program and methodical material will be adapted in accordance with needs of social pedagogues and tested during pilot training with assistance of experienced Germany professionals. All methodical package will be given to Vilnius and Rezekne colleges for further implementation in study programs. 25 social pedagogues will be trained in Pilot training course both in Latvia and Lithuania as mediators and they will use their knowledge in practice as well spread to other colleagues. E-version of all package in English will be available for other interested countries.
