Overall objective: Improvement of the air quality through a decrease of the pollution level in the cross-border region. The subject of the project is the thermal efficiency improvement of three schools: the School Complex No. 8 in Suwalki (PL), Dailes School and Volunges School in Alytus (LT). The thermal efficiency improvement of the public buildings will contribute to the environmental protection and preservation of the heritage of the natural environment in the cross-border region. The thermal efficiency improvement of school buildings will improve their energy efficiency and decrease the energy intensity through lower amount of energy consumed. In this way, the level of pollutions emission to the environment will be reduced. Expected Results: The project also provides for study visits for persons interested in the new energy saving solutions in the building (surveillance inspectors, designers, and contractors) as well as for environmental education lessons for Polish and Lithuanian children. The implementation of the present project means a strengthening of the friendly neighbouring links between Suwalki and Alytus.
