Title: Learning by sharing: job shadowing and ITC/Creativity training for multiracial adult classesProject background: The school serves as a cultural point of reference in a very variegated area in which migration flows are very high. It hosts people of different ages and different cultural levels, from 16 to 60 years old, offering scope for improvement in the training and reintegration of Italian adults who have dropped out of school and who wish to go back to fit more easily into the job market. At the same time, it guarantees to foreigners, who are approximately 70% of our students, immediate access to the Italian culture, a real chance to socialize, to avoid the ghettoization and fully integrate in the territory, often catching job opportunities thanks to the thick network of contacts with associations and organizations in the territory. Objectives: To improve management skills, acquire language skills, learn new creative methods and ITC tools for teaching, suitable also to multicultural classes, strengthen the European and international dimension of the school.Activities: they are all training activities for the staff, but they imply different streams in different countries. In particular, a job shadowing experience in Spain and Belgium, at adult schools with a multicultural environment like ours but with more experience, a language course in France, UK, Spain, to be able to better receive and interact with students coming from different linguistic areas which are many in our school. Two training courses, one in Ireland and one in Malta focused on improving ICT skills and learning more creative, advanced teaching methods suitable to a multicultural context. Methods: careful preliminary planning of all the details, for this purpose, the following will be needed:Telephone and multimedia communications to get a detailed prior knowledge of the premises and the students of the schools. Exchange of information and cooperation for the logistics management of visits and courses.Creation of a list of the strengths and weaknesses of all the partners involved in the experience.Co-operation in writing a schedule with the activities which are more appropriate to get rid of those weaknesses.Observation of teaching methods adopted during the lessons.Observation and description of the procedures to simplify our management or the others' one.Initial and final presentation of the countries, schools and experiences.Initial and final evaluation questionnaires to verify the achievement of the objectives.Number and profile of participants : almost all the teaching staff and some representatives of the management of the school will take part to the project. They all have a long experience in teaching adults. However, as a result of higher migration volumes, our CTP has undergone a radical transformation in recent years, which led to the need of acquiring new methodological, linguistic, technological skills in order to respond to the new needs. Participants will be, therefore, the people who are more involved in the management of the activities and projects implemented at our school, as well as more interested in new methodologies and technologies, in professional growth e in sharing a path of modernization and internationalization of the school, which sees also the acquisition of language skills at the basics of the whole process, to better manage the multiracial classes and at the same time projecting us in a new European dimension. Results and impact : our school is already a point of reference in the area for students from many countries and of all ages, therefore we manage to have an impact on a large scale , thanks to the Italian lessons to foreigners, the secondary school courses and above the several courses that every year we activate and attract hundreds of people of different cultural level. The courses are extremely professional and also attended by university graduates from different ethnic groups. This approach, already multiracial and technology-oriented, will be enhanced and enriched by new methods, new tools, better language skills and more collaboration that will spread rapidly in each layer among and through our students in different environments, resulting in a significant impact on the whole territory. The school is also networking with other institutions and organizations in the region, as well as many cultural associations whose students attend our courses. Of course they will benefit directly and indirectly from the advantages offered by these opportunities for growth and will in turn implement our methodologies and procedures.
