The IFD project will work towards the harmonisation of training, examinations and student selection in the field of driving instruction with a view to improving road safety in Europe.Working in eleven countries, the project will produce publications, reports and CD-Rom, selectively translated into or from the working language (EN), to provide an analysis of the state-of-the-art of driving instruction and conditions of student pre-selection, qualifying examinations and refresher training opportunities in the participating countries. The project will further develop and test a training programme for trainers of driving instructors and for this will also produce a final guide and support materials on paper, CD-Rom and Videocassette.Project results are expected to be of particular interest to the international association of driving instructor schools and to further benefit individual driving instructors, training professionals concerned with safety in road transport and designers & managers of driving instruction training. Dissemination at national and international level is planned via approaches to relevant media as well as through attendance and presentation at conferences, seminars and trade fairs.
