Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

J.The IRIS -Project came to exist out of the desire of Tabora vzw and its partners to set an international network for exchange and cooperation in order to strengthen, broaden and deepen their knowledge of, insight in and application of methodologies that allow them to empower, educate and activate their youngsters in a more effective way so that they can discover, develop and deploy their skills in daily life. Based on networks of previous cooperation during international workshops and projects, Tabora vzw has spread their wings to the corners of Europe to find professional and motivated organizations with the same mission, with alternative methods to reach that common target. In Belgium we have Leerwerkplaats Garage and Erdena vzw as our partners. In Bulgaria we have Caritas-Sofia as our partner, who will work with ethnic minorities and other unterprivileged youngsters. They organise a training "Dream Catchers". In Estonia we find Estonia’s Leaders Union as our partner, who can show us the experience of training for education for early school leavers at the University of Tallinn. In Macedonia we have "Women’s Forum" as our partner, who will add the gender aspect to our narrative of letting youngsters to develop and use their skills. In Latvia we will work together with the Technical University of Riga and in a 2-days meeting we will about "Project-based-Learning" and "Developing functional creativity"In total we have a number of 7 participant organizations and in total around 360 people will cooperate during the project. All these organizations have in common that they aim to empower youngsters to use and DEVELOP their CORE-TALENTS and their SKILLS, and we all have our own methods and approaches to do this. Therefore we see this IRIS-project as a way of introducing each other to our methodologies and try to transfer the good practices. Besides that we will introduce new methodologies that are closely linked to our practices during workshops. In total we will have 2 international meetings, during which we will show each other our good practices and discuss how we can improve and transfer them. We will organise also 4 meetings for Belgian participants. The project-coordinator will attend the national workshop with young people in Bulgaria, where use is made of the methodology "dream catching". And at the end of the project a big challence is to realise a book of the good practices, the new insights, the possibilities, and the experience of the youngsters involved in the IRIS-project. The expected impact of the project will be that the participants can improve their methodologies and further professionalize their organizations. One important methodology that will be implemented is the project-based learning to learn 21st Century Skills, taking into account gender differences, the specific needs of youngsters (with fewer opportunities) learning and multiple intelligences. By using this scientific and modern perspective in our training, our youngsters will have a better opportunity to reach their targets and develop and USE THEIR SKILLS !
