PROJECT
FINISHED
In our societies we have grown to believe that some people are designed to participate in sports and others are not. We believe some people are good at sports and some people are bad at sports. Realistically speaking though have we given everyone a chance to prove themselves, to at least try to participate in a sport? When we create the impression that only the best are good enough it means we are closing our doors to so many people who are capable of achieving greatness. In this project we want to show that all people are capable of participating in sports and that by encouraging people to participate and at least try, we can give young people the opportunities to find a sports that is right for them. We believe that all people should be active in sports in one way or another and this youth exchange will work with youth to develop and explore ways to help young people become more active in sports. The youth exchange will incorporate many sports activities which will also give focus on healthy lifestyle choices and the negative impact of not being physically active. As unemployment is a major priority, not only for the Erasmus program, but in all our countries, we will incorporate themes of unemployment into the project from the perspective of employment in the fields of sports and health. We will also explore the accessibility of sports to disadvantages people and even disables people. The project will look at legislation in different countries and also the resources available and also look at EU law and see how we can help make policy reform to enable the inclusion of all people in sports. We will identify the problems in each of the communities that make access to sports more difficult to young people and try to establish methods to overcome these problems. We will use a series of proven non-formal and informal methodologies to achieve our goals for this project. We will use open discussions allowing for everyone to understand the problems in each country and also to find common problems for which we can develop solutions. We will use debates to express our different viewpoints and to defend them. Workshops made up of participants from all partner countries will be used to allow participants to work together sharing knowledge, experience and good practices to work on solutions for common problems and to show information to each other.Role playing activities will be used to allow the participants to take on various role and also to view the issues from a different perspective. An innovative simulation activity will also be used to simulate reality and allow the participants to take on roles and explore the outcomes of different choices.Learning by doing will also be used throughout the project activity. As a final result we hope to develop some methodologies to overcome the problems with access to sports by disadvantage young people and to help create opportunities for them. We also hope to develop workshops, seminars and campaigns that can be used in each of the partner countries for young people and other youth workers. These workshops and seminars will act as multiplying tools of the project allowing many more people to learn and gain from the outcomes of this project.Ultimately we hope to use the knowledge gained from this project to help more young people have access to sports and to be able to be active in the sports they like and enjoy. We hope to be able to give some people the tools to be able to turn sports into a possible career to allow even more people to have access to sports. Awareness of the problems in the different countries will also be a great outcome of the project. The intercultural learning during the project will allow for better understanding of each other and the problems in each community allowing for a more inclusive growth of the EU and combating of xenophobia and discrimination.
