The Vörösmarty Vocational School of Székesfehérvári Vocational Centre has been struggling with the high number of students dropping out of or leaving school for years. The ratio of disadvantaged and severely disadvantaged students in our school is high and these students are less motivated because of their personal and family problems and learning disablilities. The agressive and shy students face with many conflict situations at school. Therefore, these students more likely lag behind with their studies and they cannot find a job because of the lack of education. There are EU intentions to solve this complex problem, as well. Our school tries to get over these problems in multiple ways. Our school is participating in the Bridge Progam, the school police officer helps our students, our colleagues and the children of backward children are mentoring students with learning difficulties to overcome their learning problems. Mathematics, Hungarian grammar and literature and foreign language teachers are dealing with children of small reading and writing abilities. We would like to have teachers in the classrooms who can turn to the students with emphaty and create a positive atmosphere. Family conflicts, financial worries and serious personal problems can create stressful situations at school for which our teachers are not prepared. Since there is no school psychologist in our school, there is a need for teachers who can give advice to young people on lifestyle. They can reduce stress and provide a more relaxed school environment. These all have positive effects on motivation, school performance and health. By completing the training of Cervantes Training we would like the participating colleagues to learn new techniques and efficiently incorporate them in the educational program of the school and their methodological program, as well. During the training they will learn techniques that reduce stress and later they can use them in the classroom. As a result there will be a better relationship between teachers and students. Thus the atmoshpere will be positive and motivating for learning, student integration and cooperation. With the help of illustrative lessons for colleagues and parents we would like to reach more people and train tutors who have not got pedagogical degrees. We are sure that these techniques and information will be very useful for them since they spend a lot of time with students. So, in the future our school can relies not only on external psychologist and specialists in the treatment of backward children but the school's own teachers who are able to get over conflicts in the classroom. As a result of this cooperation we will be able to reduce the number of early school leavers and to increase the proportion of those who will succeed in taking their vocational trainee's exam or the matura examination. The successful students will have the opportunity to find a job or continue their studies. A long-term impact is expected from participating in the training. The number of early school leavers can be checked in the school statistics but they are likely to improve only after the completion of the project.
