Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project No. 2015-1-PL01-KA103-014550 carried out at the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences in the framework of Erasmus+ Programme consisted in staff mobilities for training. 9 mobilities of a total duration of funding of 65 days were realized. Training took place in scientific institutions of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. The Institute maintains International PhD Studies, and all PhD students who were employees of the Institute could take part in the project on an equal footing. In the described project all the mobilities were carried out by young scientists (PhD students) without differentiation between the sexes. The aim of the traineeships in foreign scientific centres was to acquire and assimilate knowledge and skills in the scientific community of the Institute and to launch or maintain international scientific cooperation. Participants were supposed, inter alia, to learn and master new equipment, experimental and theoretical (analytical and numerical) techniques, and to share the acquired knowledge after returning to the Institute. A high degree of personal satisfaction of participants, effective transfer of knowledge and skills as well as strengthening of international cooperation were achieved, with great benefit for the Institute. The opportunity to improve the language skills of participants was also a considerable benefit. The knowledge acquired by the employees of the Institute translates directly into scientific and popular publications with national and global reach. Participation in the project is also included in the annual evaluation of employees. Professional and interpersonal skills acquired by the participants of the project are not limited to the activities at the Institute. The participants use the acquired skills in their work for scientific societies, publishing houses, or in other dissemination and popularization of knowledge in the field of physics. International mobilities result also in social skills (organizational, interpersonal), which are used primarily at the local level (municipal, communal). Information on the projects of Erasmus+ Programme carried out at the Institute are placed on the website of the Institute (http://www.ifpan.edu.pl/msdifpan/Erasmus/). They present functioning and benefits of the Programme to a wider audience, and activate the potential participants. For several years, the projects of Erasmus Programme are an important part of international exchange at the Institute and perfectly fit into the scientific policy of the Institute. Cooperation with leading scientific centres results in raising the standards of scientific work, strengthens and inspires further international contacts, as well as results in a scientific "added value."
