The use of European mobility funding provided for the Erasmus+ program (mobility with program countries) allows the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen to satisfy the growing demand for abroad experience. The responsibilities of the International Office are mobility marketing, consultation, preparation, organisation, support, debriefing and integration. A close cooperation takes place between the central International Office and the individual faculties in the areas ‚incoming‘ and ‚outgoing‘. The faculties discuss relevant issues and carry out the recognition of credits obtained abroad, the International Office is responsible for over arching organizational and administrative questions.
Funds were requested for semester long stays for students and andminstrative/technical personnel and teaching staff. The Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen is member of the consortium for EU-traineeships of the University of applied sciences Fulda, which is why requests for traineeship funding were forgone.
The mobilities planned in the application were almost fully realized. Staff mobilities for teaching exceeded the number in the application by 4 totalling 28. In the area staff mobilty for training 4 mobilities were realized. 110 of 112 planned student mobilities were achieved. It is especially pleasing that, besides the core regions (Northern Europe, Ireland, Turkey and Spain) students mobilty with partner universities in France, Italy, Slovenia, Estonia and Lithuania took place. The numbers for all types of mobility rose compared to the previous year and fortunately all stays were fully funded by the sums provided through the grant agreement. It is noticeable that the increasing participation in European mobilty increases the demand in itself.
To meet the goals the International Office hosts info events during the semster in cooperation with the faculties. That way it is ensured that all new students have all the information regarding experience abroad they need. An essential part of these events is returning students and personnel talking about their experiences. The funding for personnel allows for participation in network weeks, additional to mobilities, thus strengthening existing cooperations.
