Start date: Jun 1, 2014,
End date: May 31, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
Title: Higher Education Student and Staff Mobility within the Erasmus+ Programme (Key Action 103-2014).
Objective: international student and staff mobility of the University of Computer Science and Economics in Olsztyn.
A total of seven mobilities was realized: two staff members visiting partner universities and lecturing there, one invited staff member of a foreign company giving lectures at our university, three staff member mobilities for training and one student placement mobility.
Implementation of the project was based on the principles of Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, Erasmus Policy Statement at our university and the records of the university's strategy of internationalization of the education process
Updated information on student and staff mobility was posted on our website (application terms, qualification conditions, financing options and mobility implementation). Individual and group meetings were organized in order to encourage students to participate in Erasmus exchange.
Preconditions of participation in the programme were:
-relating to students: good academic achievements and foreign language proficiency to such a degree that the internship abroad can be served successfully (level B1) and/or the term at the partner university can be credited (level B2),
-relating to staff members: good proficiency of English and individual work/teaching programme evaluation.
Prior to each exchange, a “Mobility Agreement” defining the conditions of the particular programme, had to be signed by participant, receiving andsending institution. The valid signatures of all parties concerned under the mobility and financial agreement were preconditions for the funding of the mobility.
Any student who has qualified for a mobility has to pass a mandatory language test before and after the mobility period.
The qualified student realized an online English course on the OLS platform. During her stay abroad the student took part in the language preparation offered by receiving organisation.
Responsible person for the project implementation at the university was Erasmus+ coordinator, who was in continuous contact with participants and partner organizations at every stage of the project (before, during and after the mobility period).
After the mobility period, each participant submitted the documentation issued by the receiving institution, confirming the duration and extent of the mobility. Each participant submitted their individual report online. The outgoing student passed an online language test.
In order to disseminate the project results detailed information on implemented mobilities was posted on the website, the same each bilateral agreement was announced. Several articles on Erasmus+ mobility were published in our institutions quarterly, Silva Rerum. TV Mazury transmitted a report on invited staff from a foreign company. We organized several meetings of incoming Erasmus+ student from partner university serving his internship with our office of international cooperation, with students from our institution. He presented his country of origin and shared his insights in and experience with Erasmus+ programme. The students took advantage of his presence and improved their communicative English language competence, gained new intercultural insights and profited from tandem-language-learning. After return, our outgoing student passed on her personal experience, propagating the advantages of Erasmus+ programme and remains at the disposition of prospective mobility programme participants.
The experiences of all participants in the programme are unanimously positive. They share their experience with others.
The general objectives of the project were achieved. For objective reasons 1 planned mobility has not been realized.
The positive project results concern both idividual participants (professional and social development, broadening of the mind, exchange of professional experience, improvement of language skills, increased self-confidence) and partner institutions (growing mutual understanding and trust, raised the awareness of mutual expectations, international cooperation, familiarity with and implementation of good practice, implementation of select solutions within exchange proceedings and the development of an international curriculum, more emphasis on foreign language learning, improvement of study programmes).
The project also set the path for further actions by appointing plans for cooperation with foreign partner institutions.
Dissemination of project outcomes resulted in increased interest of Erasmus+ student and staff mobilities.
